mysophobia
1. A pathologic fear of dirt, uncleanliness, or contamination, often manifested by compulsive hand-washing.
2. An abnormal fear of, distaste for, or disgust of uncleanliness or contamination.
mysophobiac
Anyone who has an abnormal hatred or fear of being around filth or contamination.
mysophobic
1. Suffering from mysophobia.
2. Abnormally afraid of dirt or contamination.
因为这里的资料只有一个phobiac,缺少phobe,无法参照,于是继续搜索资料,终于让我在THE FREE DICTIONARY的Medical dictionary里找到了这两个词同时出现:
-phobiac.
See -phobe.[注4]
这时就可以看出,其实这两个词尾是一个意思,都是指对某物或某人怀有恐惧/恐怖感觉的一类人。
这时再次出现了质疑,去搜索了文献资料,为何phobiac会自动跳转到phobia,而phobe却可以搜到。虽然也意识到了phobiac适用面非常小,但还是不放心,再次让我怀疑起了-phobiac到底是否正确,于是继续搜索。
Appendix I
PHOBIA WORDS
-phobia, -phobias, -phobe, -phobiac, -phobist, -phobic, -phobism, -phobous; phobo-, phob- (Gk., fear: extreme, morbid, excessive, illogical, exaggerated, irrational fear or terror of something of someone; however, sometimes this Greek element also means a strong dislike or hatred for something) Noun endings are formed with -phobia and -phobe; while adjectives end with - phobic.[注5]
这部分绫子已经翻译就不再重复
别着急,虽然这里最后并没有将phobiac列出来,但在后面的例子中却有提到:
one who is terrified of something or someone, phobiac[注5]
一个人对某物或某人感到恐惧
Person who has a morbid terror of something, phobiac[注5]
一个人病态地对某事感到恐惧
